2018 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Shanghai International Commodity Auction Co., Ltd. In the past year, a gross turnover of RMB 16.611 billion from 312 auctions was achieved, covering art, jewelry, luxuries, wine, vehicles, real estate, equity, intellectual properties and judicial commissions, the largest in scale among the auction houses in China. While celebrating the New Year, we would extend our sincere gratitude to all consignors and bidders as well as our business partners for your continuous trust, and would like to share the following review of some of the highlights over the last year.
In January, Shanghai International Commodity Auction hosted the 19th charity auction “Light up the Best Wishes” in Longhua Temple in Shanghai. The auction raised RMB 3.74 million.
In March, Shanghai International Commodity Auction organized a group birthday party for left-behind kids from the DABIESHAN Mountain region whose parents are working as migrant workers in Shanghai.
In April, the celebration “Weave Your Dreams and Future in the Sound of the Gavel Strike” for the 30th anniversary of Shanghai International Commodity Auction Co., Ltd. was held in Shanghai. During the celebration, Shanghai International Commodity Auction donated RMB 500,000 to the volunteers’ team of the Chinese National Role Model WANG Haibin.
In May, a special auction was held for contemporary Russian oil paintings in cooperation with artists from the Repin Academy of Fine Art in St. Petersburg. The 223 paintings were sold at a total of RMB 5.0475 million in eight hours.
In May, Shanghai International Commodity Auction worked with Shanghai Design Week in the “Joint Auction” for creative cultural products designed by local artists. The event established a feasible platform for artists and consumers to find business opportunities.
In July, the first Shanghai International Patent Technology Auction was held at the headquarters of Shanghai International Commodity Auction, in cooperation with Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Six lots in the fields of visual analysis, chemical engineering, biomedicine, etc. were sold at a total of RMB 1.428 million after over an hour’s fierce bidding.
In September, Shanghai International Commodity Auction was awarded the Merit Quality Award from the District Mayor of Huangpu.
In September, rights to harvesting 50 ancient walnut trees located in Yangbi County, Yunnan Province for two years were auctioned at RMB 1.674 million. The revenue will be used for supporting local farmers and economy.
In September, Shanghai International Commodity Auction Co., Ltd. signed a Framework Agreement for Strategic Cooperation with the People’s Government of Chongming District in Shanghai. More agreements were signed later with different overseas parties in the flower business.
In November, four online auctions, dedicated respectively to the Mongolia Pavilion, Chili Pavilion, Takashimaya Department Store and the International Caregiving Association of Japan, were held simultaneously in cooperation with the inaugural China International Import Expo. Similar auctions will be held in the future at a larger scale during the annual CIIE in Shanghai.
In November, at the auction for vintage Moutai liquor held in Shanghai’s Lujiazui CBD, bidders from across the country took part and achieved a total sale of over RMB 18 million.
In December, 93.83 million shares of equity owned by FUNING Rare-Earth Porcelain Co., Ltd. were auctioned. The judicial lot drew wide public attention and was sold at RMB 811,895,000.
In December, a charity auction was hosted by Shanghai International Commodity Auction for the charity fund established by the renowned Chinese painter CHEN Peiqiu. The auction raised more than RMB 2 million.
